Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung

Abc&D has been in charge of the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung’s concert and cultural program’s visual communication since 2016. The program creates a space for previously unheard of connections between contemporary art forms with high-profile guests like Peter Zumthor, Michael Wollny, and Nora Gomringer.

All of the thematically diverse panel discussions and film concerts are accompanied by a stand-alone design solution. A diverse selection of pre-screening materials and the annual journal incite the guest’s curiosity and, together with the exhibitions in the Kunstfoyer, serve to document the whole program.

Bound in a joint publication the annual periodical 2016 is a showcase of the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung’s concerts, cultural projects, and exhibitions. It can be read both from the front as well as the back and its banderole cover lends both divisions a distinct character.

2017’s sneak preview flyer documents all of the Versicherungskammer Kulturstiftung’s upcoming events and exhibitions. The flyer’s perforated elements allow for a playfulness that lend it a haptic feature and invites the viewer to pick up and share it.

F.W. Murnau’s »Nosferatu« is an impressive production centered around the ghostly main character. It is generally considered one of the most important works of cinema to emerge out of the Weimar Republic. Working with Eric Schaefer and a Norwegian wind ensemble, Michael Wollny manages to revive this figure at a live improvised film concert. The event communication’s design concept picks up on the improvisation theme and the reinterpretation of a highly regarded classic.

What does a good space for music look like today? How are acoustics and atmosphere created? These are some of the many questions discussed by a panel that includes Peter Zumthor, Isabel Mundry, and Karlheinz Müller, moderated by Christine Lemke-Matwey. The event communication's design plays with the idea of Le Corbusier's proportion system ›Modulor‹, which to this day remains an important reference point for serial music. The poster for this event was awarded one of the ›100 Best Posters 2016‹.
