Filmschoolfest Munich
The Filmschoolfest Munich (formerly known as the Internationales Festival der Filmhochschulen München) has been an important meeting place for global young directors since 1981. Not only did the changing of the name in 2013 warrant a re-design, but the festival organizer formulated a new and clear self-understanding.
The Filmschoolfest Munich’s lettering picks up the concept of binoculars, which are also used as an additional icon. The letters, which are arranged like they’re being pulled apart by a zoom, thus reflect the festival organizer’s »discovery« approach in a playful and subtle way. Only two colors are used, this refers to the fact that young filmmakers often have limited means at their disposal. A new, fitting motive is designed for the festival motto annually.
The proximity to the Filmfest München is evident through the typographical design and other design elements, but still ensures a sufficient boundary to the great summer festival.
